Para o coração, sim. Mas também para o espírito: Momento Feminino e o debate feminista no Brasil republicano (1947-1956): “For the heart, yes. But also for the spirit ”: Momento Feminino and the feminist debate in republican Brazil (1947-1956)

Result of a research developed in the PhD, in this article I analyze the feminist debate promoted by the newspaper Momento Feminino (MF), highlighting the internal consensus and tensions, as well as the difficulties and challenges faced by its writers in a context crossed by both anti-communism and by anti-feminism. Published in Rio de Janeiro, the journal circulated in Brazil between 1947 and 1956. It was linked to the Partido Comunista do Brasil (PCB) and to the  Federação Democrática Internacional das Mulheres (FDIM). Its pages presented an important debate to the PCB, at the time, in addition to discussing the social structures that left women in a situation of inferiority and vulnerability. Momento Feminino defended the participation of women in political and social life. The newspaper politicized daily life; created initiatives to print, albeit in a mediated way, the voices of diverse women, especially from the popular strata; it built means to increase the level of literacy among women and was concerned with denouncing how the lack of daycare centers and safe and clean work environments made life difficult for workers. Therefore, it committed itself to a feminist project of society, which makes it an important means for understanding the history of feminism in Brazil.Neste artigo, analiso o debate feminista promovido pelo jornal Momento Feminino (MF), evidenciando os consensos e as tensões internas, bem como os desafios enfrentados por suas articulistas em um contexto atravessado tanto pelo anticomunismo quanto pelo antifeminismo. Vinculado ao Partido Comunista do Brasil (PCB) e à Federação Democrática Internacional de Mulheres (FDIM), o periódico era editado no Rio de Janeiro e circulou no Brasil entre 1947 e 1956. Suas páginas imprimiram um debate, à época, caro ao PCB, além de terem discutido as estruturas sociais que deixavam as mulheres em situação de inferioridade e vulnerabilidade. O MF não só defendeu a participação das mulheres na vida política e social, mas também politizou o cotidiano, comprometendo-se com um projeto feminista de sociedade, o que faz dele um importante instrumento para o entendimento da história do feminismo no Brasil
